Bunions
Bunion is a painful swelling on the big toe joint. Usually involves a lateral deviation of the great toe towards the lesser toes. It makes it very uncomfortable to wear shoes and it becomes progressively more symptomatic as time goes on. It becomes very difficult to wear shoes comfortably. There are many different types of corrective procedures that can be utilized from a simple to more complex procedures.
Dropped Metatarsal
This appears clinically as a isolated callus on the ball of the foot. This is corrected by a surgical procedure which then repositions the displaced bone in a more normal position.
Hammertoes
Hammertoe deformity is usually associated with the lesser toes. Typically seen as a crooked or what's called as a cock up hammer toe deformity. This creates sore irritated spots on the tops of the toes. This condition is remedied by corrective procedure.
Heel Pain, Heel Spurs, Plantar Fasciitis
Described as a stone-bruise sensation in the heel of the foot, patients experience a very painful sensation upon arising in the morning and trying to make the first step of the day. Patients will typically describe the first step of the day as the most painful step they have taken in the course of the day. As the day progresses sometimes this pain lessens; and upon relaxing and being seated the pain tends to go away and then when the patient arises again to start walking the cycle starts all over again with very painful first step. Treatment for these conditions is very successful with a 92% success rate with Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy(ESWT) on the first treatment.
Ingrown Toenail
This can occur from the great toes to the lesser toes but is more typically seen on the great toe. The condition can be corrected by infiltration of local anesthesia mixed with a buffering agent which makes the local injection virtually pain free. Once this condition is corrected it almost never returns.
Neuroma
Is described by patients as a burning tingling sensation between their third and fourth toes or a numbness between the toes. There is a sensation that one has to take off their shoe and sock and rub the ball of the foot to relieve the distress. This condition is remedied also by corrective procedure.
Pinched Callus
This is callus seen on the outside border of the great toe. A simple procedure removes the bone spur underlying the skin condition to remove the underlying cause of the hard callus formation.
Plantar Warts
This is probably the most annoying dermatological condition presented for treatment. The reasons may be single, isolated and discrete, sometimes large or even mosaic in pattern, being a blend of multiple warts appearing as one large lesion. The best treatment for these conditions is removing the lesions and this is accomplished very nicely with the use of radio frequency current under either local anesthesia or monitored anesthesia care. The condition is corrected in one visit.
Pump Bump(Haglund's Deformity)
This is typically seen on the back of the heel as an enlarged swelling underneath the tendo-Achilles. It is most typically seen in women 90% of the time and is usually associated with pumps that women wear over the course of many years. Treatment consists of removing the bone spur and the associated bursal sack often times found at the time of surgery.
Tendonitis
Inflammation of a tendon or the tissue surrounding it is called tendonitis. You may feel pain when you move your ankle or when your heel shifts from side to side.
Varicose Veins / Spider Veins
These veins arise as a result of leaky vein valves, a condition that is usually hereditary. Although there is little you can do to prevent them, there is a lot that can be done to eliminate them. Since they have no useful purpose, the only consequence of elimination is improved self image and confidence. If they are eliminated, the same veins will not recur. New vessels may arise but can easily be treated during their formation with less treatment than the more longstanding vessels.
